What is the Hackathon template?

Hackathons are extremely collaborative, high-energy coding events where teams work together to quickly solve problems and create a finished product in a specific amount of time. Planning a successful hackathon involves a significant amount of forethought, and planning a hackathon for remote teams is even more challenging. That’s where our Hackathon template comes in.

This template aims to make things a little easier and keep all members engaged throughout the event. Using this template allows distributed teams to work as an aligned unit while completing their project. With this single resource, the energy and productivity of a hackathon can extend anywhere in the world.

How to use the Hackathon template in Lucidspark

1. Make sure each team has its own template and a way to communicate.
2. Each team should decide on a team name. Note the names of all team members on the board.
3. Duplicate the first box on the template for each person. Then, give everyone 5-10 minutes to brainstorm ideas based on the Hackathon theme. Team members can use sticky notes to list their ideas on the board. Use the timer to keep everyone on track.
4. Together, take 5-10 minutes to identify the best ideas. Drag those sticky notes over to box two.
5. Decide on the winner as a group using the Voting features. Make sure the winning idea is clearly explained and that everyone understands it.
6. Divide participants into teams. You may want a team to define the approach, a team to build, and another team to present. There is no set way to divide the group.
7. Make a plan to prepare for the presentation.
8. Impress others with your award-winning idea!
